Poetry is a literary work in which the expression of feelings and ideas is given intensity by the use of distinctive style and rhythm whereas Slam poetry is a type of poetry competition where people read their poems without props, costumes, or music. With this idea Merit Pokhara organized National Level Slam Poetry Competition in association with We inspire Nepal. In this competition participants made free participation from all around the country. Participant could represent their poem in any of the three topic i.e. Sustainable development (SD), Gender equality or New Nepal. Top 20 participants were selected. It had the presence of the vice-chancellor of Nepal Academy of Music and Drama, Mr, Sarubhakta Shretha, renowned poet and novelist of Nepal Madhav Biyogi, and Tirtha Shrestha. The event was broadcasted live in Golden Eye TV and was on air through various radio station. The aim of the competition was to preserve Nepali language and culture, establishing confidence, ability in public speaking, literature among youngster and most significantly reveal the hidden truths of our society. It also aimed to identifying existing social as well as national problems and developing action plan for solving those problems. The event was conducted with positive aspiration to provide platform for students and youngster for expressing their talent.
